Convening in the summer of 2010, central Wisconsinites Charley and the Cynics began to outline a puzzling but all too intriguing brand of alternative rock. Plagued by the rehashed and formulaic sounds of the prior decade, this fresh union sought to merge pop practicality with a love of the lyrical, the ambient, and the abstract.
